Interior Trends for 2015

Interior trends for 2015

Good morning from Shutters Direct, and Happy New Year too (though it does seem a little bit too far into the month to still be singing best wishes for 2015!) We hope that everyone had a fantastic festive period, and that you’ve settled back into normality without too bad a January blues. Here at Shutters Direct, the new year has well and truly kicked off and we’re busier than ever… It seems everyone wants shutters for 2015! And who can blame them? A timeless classic, shutters are one of the most cost-effective, durable and stylish of window dressings.

We could sing the praises of shutters all day long, but today we’re going to concentrate on something else: interior trends for 2015. We’ve always prided ourselves on being up-to-date with industry trends, sniffing out the most up-and-coming styles and sourcing the most modern of materials. Today, we want to share this with you, letting you know what should be on your radar this year, and ensuring your home becomes the stylish space you’ve always dreamed of…

Rustic Meets Contemporary Dinner Tables

A stylish blend of the traditional and the modern will make for an on-trend dining area. Team an old table with new chairs, drawing an interesting contrast between form and material. You may think this method is a little too bizarre, but it’s very effective; it emphasises the unique qualities of both, and creates an arrangement of furniture that displays the best of both worlds. Plus, it’s more than likely that you already possess one or the other, so simply swapping a table or substituting several chairs is quick, easy and much cheaper than purchasing a brand new dining set.

Statement light fixtures

Spot-on overhead lighting is the jewellery of a room, and gone are the days of simple lamp shades. For 2015, we’re expecting to see many more unusual designs, such as complex geometric shapes and intricately embellished pendants. The benefit of these fabulous fixtures is that they look stylish whether the light is on or off – flip the switch and they transform from an eye-catching sculpture to a source of sparkles and shadows.

Super snug sectional sofas

It’s true, the modular sofas that cast memories of the 1980s are back, and bigger than ever. People now consider their living rooms as spaces to relax and lounge in, and formal sofas and chairs are becoming a thing of a past. It’s time to swap the Chesterfield for a large, cushioned zone that screams to be sprawled out upon. Add plenty of cushions and throws, sticking to an elegant, muted colour scheme that will ensure your cosy haven looks grown-up and chic, rather than a children’s playroom!

Vintage Bathrooms

There’s something about old-fashioned bathrooms that makes for a much more relaxing pampering session. Of course, we can’t expect you to live without your heated towel rail or rainforest shower head (that would be asking far too much!), but by investing in a vintage bath tub and traditional units, you’ll create an effective blend of contemporary suite and classic WC. And for those of you that want to take it to the next level, baths in bedrooms continue to be on the rise… Being able to roll from bed to bath in a matter of seconds? That’s ultimate luxury, if you ask us!
